The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology
Definitions, Criteria, and Explanatory Notes
Edmund S. Cibas , Syed Z. Ali
editore: Springer International Publishing AG
pagine: 236
The first edition of The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology was published in 2010 and has greatly influenced the practice of thyroid cytopathology. The terminology proposed and illustrated in this text has been widely adopted not only in the U.S. but also abroad. It has become an essential text for pathology trainees and practicing pathologists examining thyroid fine needle aspiration (FNA) specimens.
Since 2010, there have been a number of important advances in the management of patients with nodular thyroid disease and in the understanding of the biology of thyroid cancer. This new edition includes these advances that impact terminology for reporting thyroid cytopathology. In particular, it incorporates a discussion of the recently implemented and now widespread use of molecular testing of thyroid FNA samples, which has transformed the management of patients with nodular thyroid disease in the U.S.. In addition, this edition accommodates the recent changes to the classification of thyroid cancer, most notably the introduction of a new thyroid diagnosis, that of "non-invasive follicular tumor with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP)".
Thoroughly revised and updated, The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology, Second Edition will provide the reader with a unified approach to diagnosing and reporting thyroid FNA interpretations. It serves as a reference guide not just for pathologists, but also endocrinologists, surgeons, and radiologists.
Immunohistochemistry in Tumor Diagnostics

editore: Springer International Publishing AG
pagine: 264
This book offers a comprehensive yet concise overview of immunoprofile of tumors and antibodies used in contemporary surgical pathology, and provides diagnostic algorithms for approaching tumor diagnostics.Immunohistochemistry has become the most important ancillary technique in diagnostic pathology in the last 20 years, and unlike most books on tumor diagnostics, this volume discusses in details immunohistochemical biomarkers, diagnostic approaches and their pitfalls, as well as the immunoprofile of common tumors throughout all systems of human body. With numerous color figures and detailed flowcharts, it appeals to all pathologists be they young residents in training who want a brief introduction to this technique, or specialists in need of a reliable and comprehensive reference resource in tumors diagnostics.
Istologia medica
a cura di N. M. Maraldi , C. Tacchetti
editore: Edi. Ermes
pagine: 679

The Invasive Cytopathologist
Ultrasound Guided Fine-Needle Aspiration of Superficial Masses
Ricardo H. Bardales
editore: Springer Verlag New York Inc.
pagine: 477
The Invasive Cytopathologist: Ultrasound Guided Fine-Needle Aspiration of Superficial Masses provides a comprehensive review of the cytology of superficial neoplastic and non-neoplastic disease processes obtained by percutaneous ultrasound guidance, particularly of thyroid, parathyroid, lymph nodes, salivary glands, breast, and soft tissue with ultrasound image and histopathology correlation. This book emphasizes on the basic ultrasound characteristics of thyroid nodules, the cytology of common and uncommon neoplastic and non-neoplastic processes according to the Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology, and provides a technical guide for how to perform ultrasound-guided FNA of thyroid nodules to obtain adequate material for diagnosis. The volume also briefly reviews the molecular aspects of thyroid neoplasia useful for targeted therapy.
The Invasive Cytopathologist: Ultrasound Guided Fine-Needle Aspiration of Superficial Masses is a useful guide for ultrasound evaluation, cytological interpretation and differential diagnostic considerations of superficial masses, and is a valuable source of information for cytopathologists, cytopathology fellows, cytotechnology students and upper level pathology residents. Endocrinologists, thyroidologists, head and neck specialists, and any professional with interest in ultrasound and fine needle aspiration cytology of superfial masses will benefit from this book.
