Female Genital Tract Congenital Malformations

Classification, Diagnosis and Management

B. C. Tarlatzis, Grigoris Grimbizis
e altri

editore: Springer London Ltd

pagine: 318

Female genital malformations represent miscellaneous deviations from normal anatomy. With a prevalence of approximately 6% in the general population, they might be associated with health problems, potentially dangerous complications or poor reproductive outcome depending on the type and the degree of the anatomical abnormality. During the last two decades the better understanding of their pathogenesis, the availability of new non-invasive techniques for their diagnosis and the increased experience from their treatment have radically changed their management. A new, clinically oriented classification system has now been developed facilitating their evidence-based appraisal. It is a reality that the management of female genital malformations has changed rapidly during the last few years from an experience based and mainly descriptive field to a scientific evidence-based one. This book presents all uterine, cervical and vaginal anomalies in a systematic way and the new ESHRE/ESGE classification system utilised for their categorization. In addition, their embryogenesis and etiology are summarized. The diagnostic work-up of women with female genital malformations is reviewed in an evidence-based fashion and taking into account the availability of new non-invasive diagnostic methods. The treatment strategy and the therapeutic alternatives to restore health and reproductive problems associated with their presence are critically reviewed.

Breast Imaging and Pathologic Correlations

A Pattern-Based Approach

Dianne Georgian-Smith

editore: Lippincott Williams and Wilkins

pagine: 608

Effectively overcome difficult diagnostic challenges with Breast Imaging and Pathologic Correlations: A Pattern-Based Approach. This atlas is based on the morphology of the Birads Lexicon and not the pathology entities. It illustrates the "how" and "why" of breast imaging, whether via mammography or ultrasound and uses a case-based approach to walk you through a wide range of common and uncommon findings and correlates imaging patterns to pathology, helping you build your pattern recognition skills so you can diagnose breast cases with complete confidence. Key features increase your pattern recognition skills thanks to an organization by categories of pathologic presentation (i.e. masses, calcifications, architectural distortion, and other, less common malignant features) rather than by final diagnosis. It helps you to learn to evaluate masses based on shapes and margins, calcifications based on morphology and distribution and not the pathology entities, and distinguish architectural distortion from overlapping tissues. See how to distinguish between benign and malignant possibilities for almost every feature. Master the methodical thought process used by the most experienced radiologists so you can navigate the most challenging imaging findings, avoid diagnostic pitfalls, and provide the early detection patients need to ensure the best outcomes. Navigate the table of contents with ease as it provides a differential diagnosis per morphology. Now with the print edition, enjoy the bundled interactive eBook edition, offering tablet, smartphone, or online access to: complete content with enhanced navigation; a powerful search that pulls results from content in the book, your notes, and even the web. it offers cross-linked pages, references, and more for easy navigation; highlighting tool for easier reference of key content throughout the text; ability to take and share notes with friends and colleagues; and quick reference tabbing to save your favorite content for future use.

editore: Thieme Publishing Group

pagine: 264

Praise for this book: This teaching textbook is highly recommended to any radiologist. --Clinical Imaging May 2011, Antonio F. Govoni, MD The difference [between this book] with traditional books presenting radiological cases is based on the choice by the authors to present each case as a quiz thereby stimulating the reader to test his/her experience and technical knowledge. --Clinical Imaging May 2011, Aldo Morra, MD Simulates the experience of having the direct supervision of a more seasoned radiologist colleague...one could find the answer to virtually any question about breast imaging interventional procedures in this book. --Doody's Review Written by a team of experts, this practical how-to guide provides a systematic overview of the most current image-guided interventional techniques used to diagnose breast abnormalities.
