La salute nello sport e dell’atleta è uno degli obiettivi primari non solo del sistema sanitario ma di tutto l’associazionismo nazionale, sia esso amatoriale, dilettantistico o professionistico. Il concetto di salute è enfatizzato nello sport, dove non è semplicemente uno stato di assenza di malattie, ma è una condizione dinamica di benessere fisico, mentale e sociale.Così, possiamo esprimere come il concetto di prevenzione è collocato nella categoria della “riabilitazione sportiva”. Una caratteristica comune tra tutti i programmi è l’obiettivo di normalizzare la funzione clinica-biomeccanica e ridurre al contempo qualsiasi “complicanza” durante il processo di ritorno alla piena attività sportiva agonistica. La riabilitazione sportiva è un termine ampio che, ancor oggi, non ha una definizione chiara. La riabilitazione stessa è concettualmente indicata come “un trattamento o trattamenti progettati per facilitare il processo di guarigione da lesioni, ovvero da eventi lesivi traumatici e non”. Con la parola “sport” che segue ad essa, implica che c’è un infortunio ricollegabile ad uno sport specifico, piuttosto che una malattia o un processo di malattia. La maggior parte degli atleti concorderebbe con molti clinici sull’importanza nello sport di studiare strategie preventive che abbiano un fondamento ed un consensus scientifico tale da ridurre i fattori di rischio di lesioni o re-lesioni, che possono inficiare il decorso della carriera di un atleta. Il concetto di questa opera sulla riabilitazione ed osteopatia applicata allo sport si basa sulla trasferibilità concettuale dell’espansione del recupero dell’atleta infortunato attraverso anche una “Vision” multidisciplinare. Questa opera, grazie agli autori, coniuga le conoscenze scientifiche con una pratica basata sulle evidenze per riconoscere pienamente le diverse aree, applicative e di gestione, che spesso rappresentano un percorso unico all’interno del ritorno allo sport dell’atleta infortunato, ma distintamente diverso da campi di pratica e di studi simili. L’opera, presentata dagli autori nella sua filosofia, fornisce uno sguardo aggiornato non sui diversi protocolli, ormai non più rappresentabili all’interno delle strategie del ritorno allo sport dell’atleta infortunato, ma su un ragionamento che si basa su prove scientifiche e su esperienza da campo, inquadrando le iniziali strategie di valutazione multidisciplinare, per lo screening degli infortuni e delle condizioni patologiche.L’obiettivo degli autori è quello di fornire spunti, a chi è interessato, per approfondire le proprie conoscenze e una guida per i propri interventi in ottica di multidisciplinarietà.
