PrefazioneServono ancora i trattati nell’era di internet? La risposta è naturalmente “sì”, e non può essere altrimenti, visto che mi sono cimentato in questa attività.Servono perché sono dei mobili con molti cassetti, in cui chi consulta internet (cioè tutti noi) può mettere le nozioni di nuova generazione. Senza i cassetti, e lo schema razionale che li sottende, le nuove informazioni viaggiano prive di ancoraggio, generano sicuramente idee ma non consentono di edificare una costruzione solida. Costruzione che deve essere continuamente rinnovata (e internet a questo serve), ma deve appoggiarsi su una realtà di base, come a dire la struttura di un edificio che consente di seguire dalle finestre lo scorrere del tempo e delle nozioni , orientando le scelte. Non tutto il nuovo va conservato, e una selezione è inevitabile. I trattati servono a fornire le linee guida per la selezione e il peso delle novità.Per la bibliografia a fine di ogni capitolo, che ho denominato “Indicazioni di lettura”, ho indicato i lavori di cui mi sono servito, senza richiamarli nel testo per non appesantire la lettura ma affidandomi alla chiara indicazione del titolo della pubblicazione; inoltre ho fornito consigli di approfondimento che riuniscono testi storici, articoli basilari e acquisizioni recenti. Ho rinunciato a citare le indicazioni tratte da internet, elenco difficile, fluttuante e dispersivo.Devo non pochi ringraziamenti ai miei allievi e collaboratori, quelli che hanno proseguito il lavoro universitario e quelli che hanno scelto altri percorsi.Forse ho insegnato alcune cose, non tanto in termini di dottrina quanto di atteggiamento di fronte al paziente e di fronte alla ribollente cultura neurologica: correttezza, curiosità, critica, comunicazione. Sono stato ampiamente ricompensato da quanto hanno continuato a insegnarmi; e, in questi ultimi anni, dalla libertà che mi è stata accordata di utilizzare una sede di lavoro in Clinica Neurologica e dell’amicizia da cui mi sono sentito circondato. Non mi è concesso fare nomi, neppure in ordine alfabetico. Tutti li riunisco in un ideale abbraccio.
