Questo libro contiene una selezione di argomenti di base di Teoria del Traffico impiegati in Ingegneria Stradale e di specifico interesse applicativo tecnico e scientifico. La trattazione è sintetica e resa semplificata per offrire al lettore una visione generale dei più comuni problemi affrontati in Ingegneria del Traffico. Non vengono comunque trascurati alcuni degli aspetti teorici di più recente acquisizione che risultano fondamentali in diverse applicazioni di Ingegneria Stradale: ad esempio, quelle riguardanti l'affidabilità del deflusso autostradale e il controllo automatizzato dei sistemi autostradali. Per una migliore comprensione degli argomenti teorici, sono forniti diversi esempi e alcuni casi studio sia per le condizioni di deflusso ininterrotto (autostrade e strade ad esse assimilabili), sia per quelle di deflusso interrotto (intersezioni a raso regolamentate da precedenza e semaforizzate). Con questo libro gli autori intendono fornire a studenti e professionisti i fondamenti teorici di ingegneria del traffico, la cui conoscenza è oggi sempre più necessaria per poter utilizzare consapevolmente i software specialistici di microsimulazione del traffico che si impiegano in diverse applicazioni di ingegneria stradale.

The book covers all aspects of anesthesia in newborns, neonates (under 28 days) and premature babies. These patients are highly vulnerable, very small in size and weight, at very high risk, and have high mortality and morbidity, which gets further aggravated by the medical diseases and congenital abnormalities these babies may suffer from. The book provides knowledge that equips the anesthetists with the regional techniques used to provide both anesthesia and analgesia, including information about the drugs used, skills in providing neuraxial blocks, nerve blocks, etc., complications thereof and the specially designed equipment for these patients (IV cannula, endotracheal tubes, ryles tubes, laryngoscopes, SpO2 probes, monitors, incubators, warmers and heaters, mattresses, OT tables). The book covers the pharmacology of drugs used, the effect of anesthetic drugs on the developing brain, pulmonary physiology, airway assessment and management, ventilation modes, getting IV and arterial access, preoperative workup, anesthetic management, and postoperative care. It includes care and concerns from both surgical and anesthesia aspects. It covers all the common surgical diseases along with some rare cases such as oncological concerns, palliative care, ethical concerns and pain management. The book also discusses the role and use of ultrasound. The chapter on anesthesia for short procedures includes common birth and neonatal care injuries. The book contains chapters on fluid therapy, blood and blood product transfusion guidelines and indications, resuscitation of a newborn and neonate, and neonatal rehabilitation to improve neonatal outcomes. It contains a dedicated chapter on why these babies are at a high risk of morbidity and mortality and contributing maternal factors. The second edition of this book describes the clinical indications of NIV in patients hospitalized with high-risk infections as well as in the prehospital management of mass casualty incidents, including chemical or biological disasters and pandemics. In recent decades, we have learned the impact that different pandemics and mass casualty disasters can outcome in terms of health resource use, health costs and human lives. The development of respiratory failure in these patients, either infectious or non-infectious causes, has led to develop employment plans related both to invasive or noninvasive mechanical ventilation during acute respiratory failure. In this book authors evaluate a rational basis for indications, specific noninvasive mechanical ventilation indications in hospitalized patients (tuberculosis, bacterial, virus, etc.) and prehospital applications (mass casualty: chemical, biological disaster), equipment (ventilators, interfaces) and plan organization for health systems: how and when apply NIV. This book aims to explore the impact of human alterations of Earth’s ecological systems on human health. Human activities are producing fundamental biophysical changes faster than ever before in the history of our species, which are accompanied by dangerous health effects. Drawing on advanced ecological principles, the book demonstrates the importance of using systemic medicine to study the effects of ecological alterations on human health.Planetary Health is an interdisciplinary field, but first of all it must be systemic and it needs a preferential relationship between Ecology and Medicine. This relation is to be upgrading, because today both ecology and medicine pursue few systemic characters and few correct interrelations. We need to refer to new principles and methods sustained by the most advanced fields, as Landscape Bionomics and Systemic Medicine. Thus, we will be able to better discover environmental syndromes and their consequences on human health. Environmental transformations proposed by PHA (from biodiversity shifts to climate change) do not consider bionomic dysfunctions which can menace human health. On the contrary, finding advanced diagnostic criteria in landscape syndromes can strongly help to find the effects on human well-being. The passage from sick care to health care can’t avoid the mentioned upgrading.

I procedimenti di calcolo sono spiegati dettagliatamente, con richiami alla teoria di base ed alle equazioni che governano i principi della termodinamica. Gli argomenti trattati seguono i programmi dei corsi di Termodinamica Applicata e fanno riferimento a situazioni reali, riscontrabili nelle usuali applicazioni civili e industriali. Si è cercato quindi di evitare esercizi di argomentazione astratta, evidenziando come la termodinamica è applicata continuamente nelle attività di ogni giorno, ad esempio nei motori endotermici delle autovetture, nei frigoriferi, negli impianti di conversione dell’energia e di climatizzazione (riscaldamento e condizionamento dell’aria).
