Terapia fisica e riabilitazione

La Pet Therapy è una realtà che sta progressivamente prendendo piede anche in Italia, nonostante non sia facile farla conoscere a tutto il pubblico che potrebbe essere interessato. A volte la scarsa conoscenza del mondo animale da parte degli operatori fa in modo che il paziente interessato non possa accedere a un percorso che invece è speciale, ritagliato su misura sui suoi specifici bisogni. L'eredità di Geoffrey Maitland e della sua opera Manipolazioni Periferiche è raccolta in questa quinta edizione inglese (quinta italiana) da Elly Hengeveld e Kevin Banks, alla testa di un team di esperti internazionali, che illustrano come gestire i disturbi neuro-muscolo-scheletrici usando i principi e la pratica del "Concetto Maitland". Insieme, essi garantiscono che il cuore del concetto rimanga vivo, cioè si promuova il processo decisionale collaborativo, si riconosca la centralità del paziente e si enfatizzi l'arte dell'osservazione, dell'ascolto, della palpazione e dell'analisi del movimento. Punto chiave di questa nuova edizione è il concentrarsi sul processo evidence-based e su una prospettiva più analitica del ruolo della mobilizzazione e della manipolazione nella pratica clinica. Il testo è stato sistematicamente rivisto, mettendo a fuoco i dettagli della valutazione, il ragionamento clinico e la rivalutazione per determinare la disfunzione fisica e l'efficacia delle tecniche di terapia manuale, e ribadendo l'importanza di una continua comunicazione e interazione col paziente. Sono state descritte tecniche di mobilizzazione passiva, progettate specificatamente in base alle condizioni individuali di ciascun paziente.

Il testo fornisce uno strumento chiaro e sintetico degli argomenti più frequentemente affrontati da chi utilizza la Kinesiologia Applicata, sia da chi si avvicina per la prima volta a questa metodica diagnostico-terapeutica sia dai più esperti. Partendo dall'esecuzione del test muscolare, il libro mostra le tecniche per la valutazione dei problemi strutturali (occlusione, "ascendenti-discendenti", viscerali...), degli squilibri biochimico metabolici e delle intolleranze alimentari con le relative diagnosi e terapie, nonché gli aspetti psicoemozionali con le correlate tecniche terapeutiche. (terapia di riequilibrio emozionale), in grado di affrontare e risolvere numerosi disturbi che originano dall'inconscio: conflitti, stress, paure.

Questo libro stimola il lettore a porsi in maniera attiva verso la ricerca di una soluzione che risolva i propri dolori. Stimola a cercare dentro di sé con la propria attenzione le strade che portano a ritrovare il benessere, "semplicemente" conoscendosi meglio per non ripetere gli errori che hanno portato all'insorgere di quel dolore. Alla fine, quando si sarà compresa la sua vera natura, non si potrà che arrivare alla conclusione che "il dolore è una difesa".
