Obesità

Il progetto prende vita da un Corso di formazione rivolto a personale sanitario che a vario titolo tratta con pazienti obesi. Il Corso, tenuto da Colleghi universitari e del Servizio sanitario nazionale presenti nell'Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Pisana, sarà presentato nuovamente anche nell'anno 2013. Inoltre molte delle tematiche trattate saranno oggetto di Corsi di aggiornamento per il personale infermieristico dell'Azienda e per gli OTA/OSS. Visto l'argomento e in considerazione del numero elevato di soggetti obesi 0 potenzialmente tali, si ritiene che il libro possa essere un utile strumento non solo didattico ma anche "terapeutico/preventivo" da somministrare agli studenti di medicina e delle professioni sanitarie ma anche ai Colleghi che lavarono sul territorio e ai Medici di Medicina Generale. Il manuale si differenzia da quelli già editi in quanto affronta l'argomento in maniera multidisciplinare coinvolgendo tutte le varie figure sanitarie (cardiologi, pneumologi, endocrinologi, laboratoristi, ortopedici, igienisti, biochimici, chirurghi, infermieri ecc) che a vario titolo entrano in contatto con persone obese fornendo soprattutto azioni preventive e di idoneo comportamento per un corretto stile di vita. Il libro potrà essere indicato a studenti, medici, infermieri, OSS/OTA e a tutte quelle persone obese o potenzialmente tali.

L'evoluzione umana è avvenuta grazie alla combinazione fra accumulazione ed utilizzazione di energia prodotta dagli alimenti ottenuti in un ambiente ostile. Nel tempo la situazione si è capovolta: gli alimenti diventano di largo consumo, tende a sparire l'impegno fisico per intensità e durata e, in compenso, appaiono stress e insoddisfazioni esistenziali nella quasi immobilità dei corpi. Nei Paesi ricchi si manifesta l'assillo delle diete, delle palestre, di limitare i danni alla salute dovuti ad una iperalimentazione e alla scarsa mobilità fisica, nei Paesi poveri il problema è opposto. Nelle prime fasi della vita alimentarsi non è un problema, basta affidarsi al seno materno. Poi, quando dobbiamo scegliere da soli, per sapere cosa mangiare dobbiamo affidarci alla cultura. Siamo costretti a fidarci della gastronomia che si è evoluta insieme alla nostra capacità di procurarci il cibo e di prepararlo, alle disponibilità presenti nelle nostre regioni, di quello che ci preparava la mamma da bambini o delle suggestioni della pubblicità. A complicarci ulteriormente le cose ci sono poi gli odori, i colori, i sapori dei cibi ma anche tutti gli altri infiniti significati di cui li abbiamo rivestiti e che poco o nulla hanno a che vedere con le loro caratteristiche nutrizionali. Pensare il cibo, nella nostra evoluzione, ci è stato di grande utilità ma oggi, a tavola, sicuramente non è un vantaggio.
