Questo testo di anatomia microscopica è nato con lo scopo di offrire allo studente di medicina un mezzo per la preparazione dei laboratori di microscopia e dell'esame di anatomia che, per tradizione, prevede quale prova preliminare il riconoscimento microscopico di alcuni organi del corpo umano. Lo scopo che gli autori hanno voluto raggiungere con la realizzazione di questo volume è stato quello di fornire una pratica guida al riconoscimento microscopico degli organi, mediante una descrizione delle parti e una iconografia a colori. Simulando "la lettura dei vetrini in laboratorio", gli organi sono stati descritti e commentati, riportando, là dove necessario, considerazioni associative sugli sviluppi di queste conoscenze in ambito funzionale e clinico e tenendo conto della necessità sempre più impellente di integrare i corsi delle scienze di base con quelli della medicina clinica. Il testo è corredato di molteplici riquadri di approfondimento che provvedono ad ulteriori informazioni e correlazioni tra dato strutturale, funzionale e clinico, utilizzabili come elementi di sensibilizzazione per una rilettura approfondita dei dati della morfologia o come ulteriore stimolo per l'apprendimento di base.
