Il libro di Vittoria Franco, filosofa attivamente impegnata in politica, nasce dall'intento di chiarire - nello stile più agile, essenziale, e al tempo stesso rigoroso - il quadro dei diritti in gioco e delle implicazioni etiche che ne conseguono: il diritto alla salute, innanzitutto, insieme al diritto alla maternità e alla paternità responsabili e a quello di crearsi una famiglia. Il 10 febbraio 2004 il Parlamento italiano ha approvato la legge sulla Procreazione Medicalmente Assistita (procreazione artificiale umana), legge poi promulgata il 19 successivo ed entrata in vigore il 10 marzo 2004. Questo breve e agile volume cerca di fare il punto della situazione senza tacere né i limiti né i meriti. Uno strumento molto valido per chiunque voglia avere un primo approccio a un argomento di stretta attualità e che tanta eco sta avendo sui media nazionali. Carlo Casini (1935) è presidente del Movimento per la Vita Italiano e Membro della Pontificia Accademia per la Vita e del Comitato Nazionale di Bioetica.
