Nella seconda parte l'enfasi si sposta sul controllo motorio, partendo dall'informazione sensoriale e da come questa riesce ad influenzare il movimento, per considerare poi le modalità di attuazione a livello centrale del controllo e della rappresentazione delle azioni (programma motorio) quando le influenze sensoriali non esplichino un ruolo decisivo. La terza parte tratta dell'apprendimento motorio come risultato dell'allenamento o dell'esperienza e privilegia lo studio sulle modalità con le quali le abilità si trasformano in funzione dell'allenamento, piuttosto che la speculazione sulla presunta "natura congenita" dell'abilità motoria, tenendo conto anche dell'influenza delle informazioni suppletive (feedback estrinseco). Chiudono il volume la descrizione dei differenti modi in cui l'apprendimento motorio è stato definito dai ricercatori e una discussione sui fattori che influenzano la ritenzione e il transfer.
