This book gathers together contributions from leading experts in each of the major subspecialties of behavioral dentistry. Its aim is not merely to provide the student and clinician with a comprehensive review of the impressive literature or discussion of the theoretical background to the subject, but also with a practical guide to adapting the latest techniques and protocols and applying them to day-to-day clinical practice.

Clinical Review of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

A Case-Based Approach

Shahrokh C. Bagheri

editore: Mosby

pagine: 576

With cases reflecting the classic presentation format of each disease process, this book prepares students for patient encounters during their oral and maxillofacial surgery rotations. It also helps residents learn and review "high yield" material that is commonly found in oral and maxillofacial training and on board examinations. It highlights clinical information that is commonly asked during rounds, in the operating room, and during examinations. For each case, it includes an overview of the most common clinical presentation, physical exam findings, diagnostic tools, complications, treatment, and a discussion of any controversial issues that may surround the case. The authors describe Clinical Review of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as "A little reach for the dental student, right on target for the OMS resident, and a strong refresher for OMS board certification."

Gabriella Guaglio

Endodontology

An Integrated Biology and Clinical View

Domenico Riccuci , Jose Siqueira

editore: Quintessence Publishing Co Ltd

pagine: 440

Endodontology: An integrated biological and clinical view is a very unique collection of histological images combined with supporting text. Essentially, this is a work that is at the same time an atlas and a textbook about clinical endodontics, based on strong biological grounds that eliminate the gap between clinical practice and biological issues. It bridges the basic knowledge, which common endodontic textbooks provide, to an in-depth understanding of endodontic biology. In this book, that biology is shown so that the reader can visualise what happened, understand what is happening, and predict what will happen with the patient. Chapters are also included that not only show and describe several aspects of the dental and periodontal tissues in both normality and disease, but also reveal the tissue responses to treatment procedures. In this book, Dr Ricucci has added Professor Jose Siqueira from Brazil as a coauthor and thereby expanded the core content and the overall quality. This is especially noted in the microbiological content of the atlas. This has added a significant depth of subjects associated with endodontic infections. This book is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students, specialists, professors and researchers in the fields of endodontics, pathology and microbiology. General dentists dealing with "caries" pathology on a daily basis and its pulp and periradicular sequelae will also benefit from the information provided in this book.

ATLAS OF CONE BEAM IMAGING FOR DENTAL APPLICATIONS

MILES D. A.

editore: Quintessence books

pagine: 408

This best-selling book has been updated to reflect recent advances in how cone beam computerized tomography is being used by dental practitioners in each of the various specialties. As before, the book introduces readers to all of the different ways of viewing CBCT data sets and guides clinicians in identifying familiar and unfamiliar anatomical landmarks in the three planes of section (axial, sagittal, and coronal). New to this edition are chapters on risk and liability, small volume anatomy, and endodontic applications of CBCT. In addition, the anatomy chapter has been updated with many new views and anatomical landmarks. Comprehensive case presentations demonstrate the diagnostic and treatment- planning capabilities of CBCT in its full range of applications (eg, airway studies, implant site assessment, odontogenic lesion visualization, 1:1 space analysis, etc) while at the same time highlighting situations in which traditional two-dimensional imaging will suffice.

editore: Churchill Livingstone

pagine: 378

This highly successful series has been specially designed to explore readers' knowledge through an effective process of understanding, learning and self-assessment. This approach allows students to identify their strengths, weaknesses and knowledge gaps and take rapid steps to correct any shortfalls and strengthen core knowledge. Each chapter begins with an overview of the subject area while brief 'Learning Objectives' are listed at the start of each subsection. It provides lists that are used to set out frameworks and to help the reader put facts into a rational sequence. It includes tables that are used to link quite complex and detailed information whilst techniques used in various procedures are cited in boxes. To ensure that the reader is meeting the required standard, the final section of each chapter enables a check on knowledge or understanding. It contains questions that are designed to integrate knowledge from across different chapters and to focus on the decisions the student will have to make in a clinical situation. This third edition of Master Dentistry addresses the oral and maxillofacial surgery, radiology, pathology and oral medicine aspects of dentistry and is particularly suitable for undergraduate students, vocational trainees and those preparing for post-graduate examinations such as the MJDF in the UK or international equivalent, and the ORE.
