Amputazione degli arti inferiori nelle arteriopatie periferiche
Edmondo Ippolito
,
Lorenza Flaviani
e altri
editore: Minerva Medica
pagine: 112

Computer and Robotic Assisted Hip and Knee Surgery
Anthony DiGioia
,
Branislav Jaramaz
e altri
editore: Oxford University Press
pagine: 352
The book presents an overview of available Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery (CAOS) solutions to assist with adult reconstructive hip and knee procedures. The benefits of CAOS in clinical practice include improved planning, increased accuracy, intraoperative information and guidance, and the potential to enable less or minimally invasive surgery without loss of accuracy. The book reflects the current state of the art in computer integrated surgery, with the emphasis on clinically tested systems and procedures. The application of technologies such as surgical navigation and robotic surgery, medical imaging, surgical planning and simulation in total or partial hip and knee reconstruction procedures is presented. The range of currently employed approaches is covered, spanning from active robotics to navigation based medical images - either preoperative or inreoperative, and image-free navigation. The first part of the book offers the clinical rationale for the use of CAOS procedures, and describes the basic technological building blocks of such procedures and systems.
The second part of the book describes specific applications in total hip replacement, total and unicompartmental knee replacement, osteotomies around the hip and knee, knee ligament reconstruction and hip and knee trauma. The clinical goal, the technological approach, and the clinical results are outlined for every application. The book is intended for practising orthopaedic surgeons, fellows, residents-in-training and medical students interested in the latest technological developments in computer assisted surgery, as well as for engineers and developers interested in learning more about the interaction of advanced technology with orthopaedic clinical practice.

MIS of the Hip and the Knee
A Clinical Perspective
Alfred J. Tria , Giles R. Scuderi
editore: Springer Verlag New York Inc.
pagine: 220
This is a new and exciting period in orthopedic surgery. Times are cha- ing,and we are developing techniques to perform joint arthroplasty through smaller and smaller incisions in an effort to reduce the amount of int- operative trauma and expedite the path to recovery. Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) leads to shorter hospital stays with quicker recoveries. The procedures may eventually be performed on an outpatient basis with an earlier return to daily activities and work. We have asked the leading world authorities in this ?eld of orthopaedics to contribute their ideas on these new techniques. Because so much of the technology is new, the authors cannot present signi?cant long-term foll- up. However, with their cooperation, we can present the most current knowledge about the ef?cacy of MIS. Thomas P. Sculco,Mark A. Hartzband, and Richard A. Berger have summarized their early experiences with m- imally invasive surgical total hip arthroplasty in a succinct manner. Paolo Aglietti, Jean-Noel A. Argenson, and David W. Murray have provided - depth impressions of the European experience with unicondylar knee arthroplasty. John A.
Repicci, a pioneer in MIS knee surgery, presents his experience with unicondylar knee arthroplasty. Finally,Thomas M. Coon adds his own experience to give a glimpse into the future of MIS total knee arthroplasty. We are grateful to all of the authors and contributors to this text for their time and consideration. It is our hope that this work will be the foundation for the future of MIS total hip and knee arthroplasty.

Lcs Mobile Bearing Knee Arthroplasty
A 25 Years Worldwide Review
James B. Stiehl , Karel J. Hamelynck
editore: Springer-Verlag Berlin and Heidelberg GmbH & Co. K
pagine: 390
This review looks at the LCS Mobile Bearing Arthroplasty, which was enthusiastically embraced by surgeons worldwide since introduction in 1977. Dr. Frederick Buechel and Dr. Mike Pappas developed a total knee prosthesis based on the concepts of low contact stress with unconstrained articulation using a mobile polyethylene bearing and highly conforming geometry. The long-term clinical results and evolutionary changes in surgical technique and understanding of total knee arthroplasty are discussed. Scientific methodologies including wear simulation and fluoroscopic kinematic analysis have provided enlightening insight to clinical performance. Future modifications to the implant system are described. Surgeons interested in proposing future designs using the mobile bearing concept should benefit from the knowledge of this experience.

Forefoot Reconstruction
Louis S. Barouk
editore: Springer Editions
pagine: 384
The forefoot surgery has been for a long time not well known or presenting many inconvenients: postoperative period painful, recurrence of the deformities. The emerging of new techniques, notably the scarf firts metatarsal osteotomy, The Weil osteotomy of the lesser metatarsal, provides a dramatic improvement of the treatment of the static forefoot disorders, the great toe osteotomy has also been greatly improved. The author has introduced these techniques from USA in France since 1991, while developing and studying the corresponding implants and the postoperative period. In the other hand, he has developed the surgical management which makes the links between these different osteotomies. About 1000 surgeons in France and around the world are using these techniques, which are always tought.
