Prefazione alla 14a edizione“Il mio massaggio mesodermico” – così chiamò Elisabeth Dicke il suo libro – apparve per la prima volta 50 anni fa, poco dopo la sua morte. Il noto internista Alexander Sturm scrisse la presentazione. L’opera in sé ottenne una fama insolita. Nel trascorrere di un mezzo secolo la ricerca scientifica ha fatto grandi passi in avanti guadagnando nuove metodiche terapeutiche, mentre sono state archiviate‚ ad acta, altre conoscenze ormai obsolete. Il “MMD” (Massaggio Mesodermico) è rimasto principalmente invariato, come lo è anche la sua efficacia. Ciò che rimane da chiarire e da spiegare sono le motivazioni sul “perché funziona”. Questo libro didattico è rivolto a fisioterapisti, terapeuti e medici. Con un nuovo editore da una parte, ma con gli stessi co-autori, presentiamo ai lettori la profondamente rielaborata 14ª edizione, nella quale abbiamo messo al centro l’intento di tramandare il contenuto in modo ancora più chiaro, rimanendo tuttavia su un piano il più possibile scientifico. Le illustrazioni e le immagini sono rimaste invariate, mentre altre si sono aggiunte. Vorremmo dedicare un grazie in particolare al Prof. Dott. Hans Schliack, che è stato per tanti anni l’editore e che ha eseguito sia la struttura del libro così come gli elementi neuroscientifici all’interno di esso e sulla quale ci appoggiamo e che caratterizza come tratto inconfondibile le righe del testo. Dedichiamo il nostro ringraziamento anche a tutti i collaboratori della casa editrice, in particolare alla signora Dorothee Seiz che si è impegnata con inesauribile costanza nella distribuzione del libro. In 1929 Germany, physiotherapist Elisabeth Dicke suffered from poor circulation in her right leg, acute back pain, and a host of other ailments. With no medical options offered beyond amputation of the leg, she turned to her own training for help.
