This volume presents a comprehensive, up to date and practical approach to creating an ERAS program for GI surgery. The first sections review the evidence underlying individual elements of ERAS, including evidence from laparoscopic procedures when available or pointing to evidence gaps where more research is required. These are written by experts in the field, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and physiotherapists. The format is in the style of a narrative review, with narrative evidence review, and concluding with a table with "take home messages" and 3-5 key references for readers interested in more depth in each topic. Each chapter also addresses management of common complications and patient selection or exceptions. Subsequent chapters address practical concerns, including creation of a pathway team, project management and engaging administration. Experts contribute real-world examples of their pathways for a variety of procedures, including colorectal surgery, bariatric surgery, upper GI and hepatobiliary surgery, enabling the user to have a starting point for creating their own programs.
The SAGES Manual of Enhanced Recovery Programs for Gastrointestinal Surgery will be of great value to fully trained surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and administrators interested in initiating an ERAS program.
Operative Techniques in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery
Conor P. Delaney
editore: Lippincott Williams and Wilkins
pagine: 248
The Second Edition of Operative Techniques in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery is designed to give surgeons the learning tools they need to understand and successfully incorporate laparoscopic colorectal surgery into their practice. Because of the steep learning curve for this technique, this edition goes to great lengths to cover every aspect of each procedure in great detail - even including the pitfalls to avoid. To help the reader with pattern-recognition, detailed, four-color photographs of important landmarks have been incorporated for them to review. Plus, an edited video is included to provide clear, step-by-step instruction of each procedure. Surgeons need appropriate training before incorporating laparoscopic colorectal surgery into their practice. This book will be a useful resource for residents, fellows in training, and surgeons who are either attending courses in laparoscopic colorectal surgery or are at an early stage of integrating this technique into their practice.
Features: chapters contain a detailed textual description of procedural steps and common pitfalls; sections on management of intraoperative complications and other useful tips; all new major operative videos; an expanded list of colorectal procedures; and new chapters include Mobilization of the Mesorectum, Handsewn Coloanal Anastomosis, Robotic Single-port Right Colonectomy, Single Port Total Colectomy with End Ileostomy, Robotic Low Anterior Resection.
